About
Ryan Skiles is a music director, keyboardist, and arranger based in Denver, rooted in pop and commercial music. He earned his Bachelor's in Commercial Keyboard Performance and Commercial Arranging and his Master's in Piano Performance from Azusa Pacific University.
Ryan has toured nationally and internationally as music director and keyboardist for pianist Ethan Bortnick, with performances featured on national television and PBS. He has also toured as music director and keyboardist with Damian McGinty (Celtic Thunder, Glee) and with Neyla Pekarek (formerly of The Lumineers) on her Rattlesnake solo tour — the M. Ward–produced concept album that later became a Denver Center for the Performing Arts musical.
Ryan previously served as Chief Music Director at Mannequin Entertainment, where he led the Mannequin live band and orchestrated music for weddings and special events across Colorado. He performs regularly with The Legacy Music Group at Dazzle jazz club in Denver, plays keyboards with The Honey Empire, and is a member of The Petty Nicks Experience.
Across live performance, studio work, and music direction, Ryan has worked and studied with artists including Greg Phillinganes, John "JR" Robinson, Russell Ferrante, Ricky Lawson, Greg Bisonette, Carl Verheyen, Tom Kubis, Patti Howard, David Choi, and members of Christafari, among others.
As a composer and arranger, Ryan has released original instrumental music on his debut album Out Enough and completed large-scale projects — most notably a jazz trio adaptation of Holst's The Planets, brought to the stage as a full concert presentation. He is a BMI-affiliated songwriter.
Building for Musicians
Gig Log
Track Your Gigs. Master Your Income. · In beta (TestFlight)
Beyond the stage, Ryan is passionate about building tools that solve real problems for working musicians. Years of touring, wedding gigs, and freelance session work taught him how much time gets lost to scattered calendars, half-finished spreadsheets, and tax-season panic. He builds software the way he approaches music — with an eye for detail, a respect for the workflow, and a belief that the right tool should feel invisible until you need it.
Gig Log is a native Apple-platform app Ryan designed for musicians and freelancers who need more than a spreadsheet. It brings gig scheduling, pay and tip tracking, expense and tax planning, gear and venue management, and earnings analytics into one polished workflow — synced across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Vision Pro. The app is currently in TestFlight beta ahead of its App Store launch.
ChartKeep
Sheet music. Secured. Performed. · In development
Every gigging musician knows the chaos — chart PDFs buried in email, set lists that don't match what's on the iPad, and no good way to keep a band's library organized and protected. ChartKeep is Ryan's answer for music directors and ensembles who need their charts ready, secure, and performable when it counts.
ChartKeep is a native Apple-platform app for teams to manage songs, arrangements, chart files, and set lists — with a performance mode built for iPad on the gig. Bulk import from folders, ZIPs, or forScore backups; role-based access for bands and organizations; and content protection so charts stay where they belong. It shares an account with Gig Log, with set list sync on the roadmap.
